Agritourism
What is Agritourism?
Agritourism is a form of tourism that involves visiting agricultural areas to experience farm life and rural activities. It offers a unique opportunity for visitors to engage in various farm-related activities such as picking fruits, feeding animals, learning about crop cultivation, and more.
This type of tourism not only provides a hands-on educational experience but also supports local farmers by generating additional income. Agritourism can include a wide range of activities, such as:
- Farm stays: Staying overnight on a working farm.
- Farm tours: Guided tours that showcase the farming process.
- U-pick operations: Visitors pick their own fruits, vegetables and flowers.
- Workshops and classes: Learning about cooking, gardening, or sustainable farming practices.
- Farm-to-table dining: Enjoying meals made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
The Annual Kitsap Farm Tour is Kitsap County’s largest collective agritourism event of the year.
This one-day, self-guided tour invites the public to explore and experience multiple working farms across the county - all in a single day. The annual Farm Tour is a project of the Kitsap Agritourism Coalition, a group of dedicated local farmers working together to promote agritourism in our region. The event is proudly supported by WSU Kitsap Extension, with sponsorship from Visit Kitsap Peninsula and fiscal sponsorship through the Kitsap Community & Agricultural Alliance (KCAA).
