KCAA Supports AgriTourism With Big Donation To The Kitsap Agritourism Coalition

by Bob Geballe — Mar 10, 2024

Last year (2023), a number of Kitsap County farms collaborated to put on a one-day Farm Tour event, inviting people from the county (and all across Puget Sound) to visit a number of our local farms, sample some of their products, introduce their youngsters to farming, and have a wonderful day. The event was organized by the Kitsap Agritourism Coalition (KAC), with support from WSU Kitsap Extension. It was a great success with more than 1000 attendees, and both farmers and tour-goers are clamoring for more.

The KCAA is supporting the next Farm Tour (in August 2024) by donating over $5000 to the KAC. The funds will purchase signs, provide restrooms, rent tents, cover printing costs for maps and posters, and other items. The KCAA will also provide promotion through hosting an Farm Tour page on our website, and publicizing the event through our outreach.

We are excited to be able to do this as part of the KCAA’s mission - to support agriculture in the county. Our group is an ALLIANCE, promoting connections between our agricultural folks and the larger community. The stronger this alliance is, the healthier we are.
